Tax Return Checklist

Checklist for online income tax return filing India


A list of documents categorized on the sources of income which is required to prepare online income tax returns in India.

Income from salary

  • All Salary Certificate(s) or Form 16 received from your employer
  • If you are a pensioner your pension certificate from the bank or the bank statement where your pension is received

Income from residential property

  • Housing loan repayment certificate
  • Municipal Corporation tax receipt
  • TDS certificate of rent OR the bank statement where you have deposited all the rent you have received

Income from other sources

  • Individual details of all income from other sources (e.g. interest, dividend, income from sources not included above) and TDS certificates relating to it

Agricultural income

  • Bank statement indicating the amounts earned from agricultural sources

Income to be clubbed

  • Details of income in the hands of any dependents or any other person which you wish to declare as your income

Deductions not declared to employer

  • Amount contributed to Public Provident Fund (PPF)
  • Amount of donations made during the current year
  • Amount of NSC purchased
  • Amount paid for premium towards life insurance policies for yourself or your dependents.
  • Contribution to recognized pension plan under section 80CCC
  • Contribution to recognized pension plan under section 80CCC
Q. 1 : Who is eligible to use Taxshax?
Ans. : Indian citizens, residing in India, with income from salary and any or all of the following sources: Salary, House Property, Agriculture, Capital Gains or Income from other sources qualify to use this package.

Q. 2 : What are the payment options?
Ans. : While registering with Taxshax you can make online payment using your Visa or Master credit cards. You can also send a cheque or Demand Draft to the address displayed on the website. Activation of your account is subject to realization of cheques/ credit card.

Q. 3 : Who do I call to answer any questions I may have?
Ans. : On www.taxshax.com "Contact Us" link under Support displays our office address, phone number (020-66261814, 020-66261816) and support email ID (support@taxshax.com). It also has a link to Raise a Query. You can look for the answer to your question on Frequently Asked Questions web page. If your query is not found there, you can click on Post Your Query link to enter your question.

Q. 4 : Can I apply for PAN online?
Ans. : You can also apply for PAN online through the NSDL-TIN website https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html by selecting the option "Apply for PAN online". You can then follow the detailed guidelines and instructions provided on the website for you to complete and submit your form online.

Q. 5 : Who can apply for PAN?
Ans. : All assessees or persons who are required to e-file a return of income for themselves, even on behalf of others, must have a PAN.
