At First Altus, we place the highest importance on respecting and protecting the privacy of our customers. Our most important asset is our relationship with you. We want you to feel secure and confident when using our products and services and with entrusting your personal and income tax return information to us. This Privacy Statement applies to Taxshax.com, First Altus.com, Taxshax Support.

Our Privacy Promise
1. Protection and safeguarding of your income tax return and personal information
We protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information by using industry-recognized security safeguards such as firewalls, coupled with carefully developed security procedures and practices to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration. Whenever we ask for sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, we encrypt it as it is transmitted to us.

Our employees are trained and required to safeguard your information. Using physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, we restrict access to personal and income tax return information to those employees and agents for business purposes only. Additionally, we use internal and external resources to review the adequacy of our security procedures.

First Altus does not solicit personal information via email. If you receive an email message that appears to come from First Altus that requests this type of information, please forward it immediately to security@First Altus.com. Do not reply or click on any links. These emails are often hoaxes ("phishing" e-mails), part of identity theft and fraud scams.

2. How and where we use your personal and income tax return information
If you order a product or register for a service from us, we will ask you for your name and contact information such as, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address. In addition to responding to your request, we may use your contact information to tell you about products or services we think might interest you or to invite you to participate in a product or service-related survey. When we ask you for personal information, we will tell you, or it will be clear, what information is required to fulfill your request and how we will use it.

This personal information will be collected separately from similar information entered by you when preparing your actual income tax return. The information collected on the website is not applicable for children under the age of 18.

Your information will be used for:

Online Preparation of Tax Returns.You may use Taxshax products and services to assist you with the online preparation of your income tax return. "Tax return information" is information that you provide to prepare a income tax return using Taxshax. First Altus discloses or uses your income tax return information only in accordance with applicable laws: to prepare, assist in preparing, or provide services in connection with preparing your income tax return; or to provide you with the products and services you specifically request or consent to.

Product Registration. When registering for Taxshax Online, we ask you to provide a limited amount of personal information, including your name, company name (if applicable), address, phone numbers and e-mail address. First Altus does not share your personal information with anyone outside of First Altus for their marketing use without your knowledge nor sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We may use your personal information to contact you about other products and services that may interest you.

Certain third parties ("Affiliates") promote Taxshax products on their web sites to customers and prospects. In some instances when you access Taxshax products through an Affiliate's web site, and when the Affiliate has requested, we may provide your personal information to that specific Affiliate.

Payment of Registration fees via Credit Card. If you would like to pay your registration fees by credit card, then we would require your name, card number, card type, validity period, and CVV number. If you select the credit card payment option you are giving your consent for the Taxshax product to gather this information provided by you and transmit it securely to our credit card payment processor. Our payment processing partner uses this information solely to process payment of your registration charges. If you don't want this information transmitted to our credit card payment partner, we recommend payment by cheque or demand draft. You may also be requested to provide your personal information, such as your e-mail address and phone number, which may be used to contact you if there is a question about your payment.

Tax Returns electronically archived. Taxshax will store your income tax returns. First Altus uses income tax return information only in accordance with applicable laws in order to provide the income tax preparation, electronic filing or other services you have requested. We do not use the content of your files for any other purpose.

Technical Support and Customer Service. During the Technical Support and Customer Service Process, we request certain personal information including your name, address, phone numbers and e-mail address. We would use this personal information to contact you to answer your question or resolve your issues.

Feedback Center. When using our web site, you can ask us questions and share comments or suggestions with us. Your personal information will only be used in the event we need to respond to your question or comment. If you elect to participate, we may send you information about upcoming Taxshax forums and related activities.

Tax Estimator. Information entered into the Tax Estimator is used solely to help you with estimates of various income tax situations and are indicative in nature only. The Tax estimates do not link the information you enter with your personally identifiable information. Unless otherwise noted in the estimator description or instructions, once you close the tool, none of the information used in these calculations is saved.

Investment Calendar. Information that you enter under the Investment Calendar section is used solely to provide you timely reminders for your investment planning. This information is stored behind a firewall and remains on First Altus's servers and is not sent to the Income Tax department or anyone else.

3. Our relationships with third parties
We have limited relationships with third parties to assist us in servicing you. These service providers are limited by contract to appropriate use and handling of your personal and income tax return information, and prohibited from using any of your personal or income tax return information for purposes unrelated to the product or service for which they have been contracted. Vendors are required to safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information we provide to them.

Additionally, we have business partners who provide services, some of which are co-branded. Partner services and sites are clearly identified. When you request any of these products or services, you are permitting us to provide your personal information to the partner to fulfill your request.

We may disclose your personal information in limited circumstances where we believe in good faith that the disclosure is required under the law. For example, we may be required to cooperate with regulators or law enforcement action such as a court order, subpoena or search warrant.

This web site may provide links to third-party sites, such as those of our business partners and online advertisers. Because First Altus does not control the information policies or practices of these third parties, you should review their privacy policies to learn more about how they collect and use personal information. Should we sell, merge or transfer any part of our business, part of that sale may include your personal information. If so, you will have the opportunity to ask not to receive promotional materials following any change of control.

We may use sources outside of First Altus to supplement the personal information you give us. For example, we may validate your address using other demographic, household or non-public personal information. We use this data to help us maintain accuracy and provide you with better products and services.

First Altus and its subsidiaries may exchange personal information, which may include exchange across country borders, about your transactions, to fulfill your requests. We may also provide you information about products or services we believe you may be interested in unless you have asked us not to contact you. We offer you the opportunity to review privacy practices at our subsidiaries' web sites.

4. How we use web technology
Like most web sites, we use technology, such as cookies, that allows us to make your visit to our web sites easier by recognizing you when you return; this is to help provide you with a customized experience. We use a variety of technologies on our web site. Among these are cookies, which are pieces of information that our web sites provide to your browser. Cookies also allow us to customize your visit to our web site by recognizing you, for example, when you return to the site. We may use invisible graphical images or single-pixel GIFs. These web beacons tell us useful information regarding our site such as which pages web visitors access.

When we track activity on First Altus web sites, we collect information such as your IP address, browser type and version, and pages you view. We also keep track of how you get to our sites and any links you click on to leave our sites. We do not track URLs that you type into your browser, nor do we track you across the Internet once you leave our sites. We use your web site activity to assist you by reducing the need to re-enter your data and to help us resolve technical support issues. 5. We do not sell or rent your personal or income tax return information to anyone.
First Altus does not sell or rent your personal or income tax return information to anyone. We do not share your personal or income tax return information with anyone outside of First Altus for promotional and/or marketing use unless you specifically ask.

We may use your personal information to contact you about other products and services that may interest you. However, if you don't want us to contact you in the future, you can tell us your contact preferences when you provide your personal information.

This personal information contact preference that you indicate only applies to marketing contact. "Marketing" includes activities such as offers from us on new products and services, promotions, contests, special events and market research. However, communication from us about the usability of our product or service is not "marketing". Product usability communication includes service messages, subscription expiration/renewal notices, critical notices about service or functionality outages or changes, or legally mandated notices. We may need and reserve the right to communicate with you about such product usability issues.

If we make material changes to any of our privacy policies or practices regarding personal information we will update our statement and post a notice on our Taxshax.com web site 30 days before they take effect.
